Your E-mail Accounts
Follow these steps to check your WYE net
E-mail accounts:
Step 1 : Obtain E-mail Client software
Just like the FTP language, your computer will need special software to converse with our
E-mail server.
Netscape Navigator will work fine.
Step 2 : Configuring Your E-mail Software
You will need to set the preferences of your software to correctly connect to our server
and download your messages. Listed below are a set of general settings for various e-mail
client software.
If you do not have your own Domain Name
| SMTP (outgoing) Mail Server |
wyenet.com |
| POP3 (incoming) Mail Server |
wyenet.com |
| Your E-mail Address |
username@wyenet.com |
| User ID, or Account name |
username |
Replace "Username" with the User ID given to you in the confirmation e-mail you
received when you signed up.
If you have your own Domain Name
| SMTP (outgoing) Mail Server |
yourdomain.com |
| POP3 (incoming) Mail Server |
yourdomain.com |
| Your E-mail Address |
username@yourdomain.com |
| User ID, or Account name |
username |
Replace "Username" with the User ID given to you in the confirmation e-mail you
received when you signed up, and "yourdomain" with the domain name you
registered with us. (See example below)
Example :
Here is an example of the confirmation e-mail received, and how the
variables would be setup in your e-mail client.
MAIL INFORMATION:
Internet E-mail address:.: john@boguscompany.com
pop mail login:..........: boguscompany
pop mail passwd..........: secretword
pop mail real name:......: John Doe
pop/smtp server:.........: boguscompany.com
Your Setup Fields would then look like this :
| Pop/SMTP Mail Server |
boguscompany.com |
| Your E-mail Address |
john@boguscompany.com |
| User ID, or Account name |
boguscompany |
These are the main pieces of
information you need to connect and get your mail. There are usually many more preferences
in your specific mail program, but the ones listed above are the most important.
Step 3 : Checking Your E-mail
Open your e-mail application and choose to check your mail. The software will then connect
to our mail server, and download any new messages that you may have. When you connect,
your e-mail program will most likely prompt you for the password of your account. This
will be the password you have chosen for your domain account when you signed up or the
password we sent you in your "Welcome to WYE net" email message.
Be sure and read all of the documentation that came with your particular e-mail software,
as each one has its own interface.
